Description of Training:
Most of us in our practice at some point will experience clients with complicated grief. This integrative workshop will offer a Bio/Psycho/Social roadmap on how to help our clients find hope and experience resilience. We will explore William Bridges Transitions model, Carter and McGoldrick Family life Cycle, Social Network Mapping applied to grief and Cross-cultural Death Education tools. This workshop will combine an existential and tool-based approach that can be adapted to a wide variety of socio-cultural identities. Meets Cultural Competency CE requirement.
Objectives:
- Analyze how complicated grief is experienced and expressed in clients and within diversity issues.
- Utilize a bereavement-specific measure to assess clients for complicated grief following loss.
- Utilize clinical interventions that alleviate bereavement distress and support clients in making sense of losses during complicated grief.
- Examine cross cultural educational tools for applying to diverse populations.
