Description of Training:

Stories and movies inform us about boundaries, confidentiality and its limits, working with in a scope of practice, importance of self-awareness and how it impacts ethics.  We will be examining popular stories such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Wizard of OZ and TV shows such as In Treatment to illustrate problems and guidelines on how to make ethical decisions.

This course is designed to help us learn and reflect on how to understand and navigate ethical decisions through experiencing the wonderful medium of stories and movies into reflections on our practice. Meets Law and Ethics CE requirement.

This training will be conducted in a webinar format. You will receive an email prior to the webinar with instructions on how to sign in to the webinar.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Examine the functions and commonalities of all ethical codes and how brain science explains ethics
  2. Examine the dilemmas of setting boundaries
  3. Learn the Cultural Formulation  Model
  4. Review confidentiality and its limits
  5. Delineate the steps in ethical decision making
  6. Reflect on implications of technology and ethics
  7. Examine the AGPA Ethical Code for group therapy
