SUMMARY:Redefining ADHD: Unlocking the Puzzle of Assessment and Skill Strategies (6 CE’s)
DESCRIPTION:Description of Training: \nADD/ ADHD in adults can be a confusing and overwhelming experience because of the attention variability pattern of hyper focusing\, under focusing and emotional/behavioral dysregulation. In this workshop we will explore an overview of Adult ADHD through the lens of interpersonal neurobiology. Outcome measures and surveys will be examined to increase effectiveness in diagnosis clarity and treatment planning. \nAn integrative CBT model of core behavioral/emotional and cognitive skills will be explored within a bio/psycho/social context to help regulate emotions/attention and behavior.  Reflection of how ones learning style(s) affects attention and concentration will explored in a strength based perspective.  This workshop can be beneficial for those who work with children and teens who have an ADHD diagnosis. Suggestions on how to discuss and suggest “reasonable accommodations” for ADHD will be reviewed. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDelineate what ADHD has changed in the DSM-5 and how it can mask other diagnoses and also be co-occuring.\nExamine selected outcomes measures and report forms to enhance clarity of diagnosis.\nBetter understand an Interpersonal Neurobiology perspective on Adult ADHD.\nExplore how technology and environment impacts ADHD.\nDelineate behavioral/cognitive and emotional skills to better regulate ADHD.\nIncreased understanding helping clients find their own strengths through examining multiple intelligences and how our senses affect learning.\nLearn tips on how to discuss and suggest reasonable accommodations.

SUMMARY:Polarities of American Culture: Amish/Las Vegas (6 CE’s)
DESCRIPTION:Description of Training: \nThe Amish and Las Vegas are symbols of two polarities in the world and within ourselves. Las Vegas represents fast pace\, instant gratification\, materialism\, risk\, impulse\, excitement\, and individualism. The Amish symbolize simplicity\, plainness\, selflessness\, community\, slow change\, and humility.  The workshop will explore a clinical transtheoretical model that integrates how thoughts\, behavior\, biology and feelings integrate with culture/ environment.   An integrative cultural/clinical model gives us a wider clinical perspective of how ADHD\, depression\, anxiety\, addiction\, family dysfunction\, trauma affects our lives. We will explore how to integrate skills to managing cultural polarities that affect our dynamics and symptoms such as:  under and over stimulation\, self- oriented versus other- directed\, denial of loss versus honoring loss\, violence versus nonviolence\, present versus past\, enmeshment versus disengagement and blaming versus accepting.   This workshop will be a blend of movies\, stories\, lectures\, discussions and exercises within a liberal arts perspective to explore the patterns of Amish and Las Vegas on dynamics and symptoms and offer pathways to resolve the struggle of polarities. Meets Cultural Competency CE requirement. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nEmphasize the presence of polarities that exist in culture and ourselves.\nHighlight a trans-theoretical model that integrates mind/mood/behaviors and the body with culture/environment.\nLearn how to integrate a holistic cultural perspective with dynamic tensions such as self-directed other directed.\nConnect how one can influence one’s environment and affect change in moods\, thoughts\, behaviors versus and the body.\nExamine an easy to learn cultural model to better understand the context of symptoms.\n\n  \n
